| 2009 STATEWIDE CONFERENCE ON HERITAGE A Conferece on Transportation, Heritage and the Environment Long before "green building" and "sustainability" were common everyday terms, historic preservationists recognized that rehabilitation of an existing building was more environmentally friendly, energy efficient, and sustainable than demolition and new construction. This was one of the many themes encompassing the heritage conference that was held May 19th through the 22nd at the Commonwealth Kaystone Building in Harrisburg, PA. Melanie Kasper and Jessica Senker attended the conference and took part in several seminars, which included: · Sustainable Communities: A Workshop on Green Historic Rehabilitation Strategies · Codes Compliance: Accessibility, Safety and Sustainability in Historic Preservation. |
